The process

During EMDR or Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, you'll gain awareness of stored traumas and experiences while engaging in bilateral (side-to-side) stimulation.

This bilateral stimulation is the nudge your brain needs in order to process the traumatic memories, allowing you to integrate them into your overall memory network. Essentially, it's like giving your brain a chance to reprocess and make sense of the traumatic events in a safe and controlled environment. Afterward, you will notice your triggers no longer have a grip on you and you are able to think about the past without suffering.

EMDR can be incredibly helpful for processing trauma because it allows you to work through difficult memories without becoming overwhelmed. It helps to desensitize the emotional intensity of the traumatic experiences, making them feel more manageable over time. EMDR facilitates a new, positive outlook and often results in significant reduction or even complete elimination of mental, emotional, and behavioral symptoms.

Who is EMDR for?

  • Individuals who have experienced single traumatic incidents, such as accidents, assaults, or natural disasters.

  • Those who have experienced ongoing trauma, such as childhood abuse, neglect, or combat exposure.

  • People struggle with anxiety, depression, OCD, flashbacks, nightmares, avoidance behaviors, hypervigilance, negative beliefs, and difficulty regulating emotions.

  • Individuals who haven't found significant relief with other forms of therapy.

  • Anyone seeking a highly effective, evidence based approach to trauma processing and healing.

  • You can finally begin to process and heal from past traumas, reducing the emotional distress associated with those painful memories and experiences.

  • You will find yourself with a sense of greater resilience and feel more prepared to cope with challenges or setbacks.

  • You will have a deeper understanding of yourself and your reaction to past events, leading to a greater sense of self awareness.

  • Your body will finally begin to release the tension and trauma it is holding onto.

  • You’ll feel more at peace as the frequency and intensity of your intrusive thoughts or flashbacks reduce.

  • You will regain a sense of control over your life and your choices again, allowing you to live more fully in the present moment.

  • You will have a renewed sense of hope and optimism for the future again.
